The IRIS OCAV project has a call for proposal every year. Applications can concern four types of funding, phD student, postdoctoral fellow, basic support, visiting professors and equipment. The call is published during the fall and is open to all researchers that are members of one of PSL institutions. The steering committee is in charge of attributing the funding after external reviews. Results are published during the first trimester of the following year.
The external reviewers are mostly the membres of the international scientific committee. Additional experts can be called upon depending on the nature of the projects submitted. The projects are funded for one year upon satisfactory performance and after validation by the steering committee. The relevance of the projects funded is also evaluated by the international scientific committee once they are started. The international scientific committee is in charge of evaluating the overall trajectory of the OCAV project. It makes recommendations to the steering committee and the research instances of PSL on a yearly basis. The annual meeting of the OCAV project is organised to that end. It is a meeting point where the ongoing projects are presented to the steering and international scientific committee.
The list of projects funded are given for each call.
Direct funding for a phD or a postdoctoral contract is possible for student and young investigators outside of PSL. The application should however being sponsored by a host laboratory that belongs to the PSL institutions.
